Re: Fish and Chips
Fishermen have to go out on a boat and find the fish. They can only catch so many and chuck all kinds back because of EU rules. The foxh are then sold through at least one middleman to the fish shop. The fish shop has to pay rediculous taxes, rent and wages to supply you with your meal.
£8 is a fucking BARGAIN.

Re: Fish and Chips
You can't beat a nice piece of battered cod and chips with lots of onion vinegar. Mushy peas and a can of coke make the perfect accompaniment.

However, the last time we got dinner from the 'chippy', I had a piece of Southern fried chicken and a battered sausage with my chips.

Crazy times.

I had Fish and Chips last night, and Clayhall Fish Bar is owned by Sikhs and they sell PORK SAUSAGES - Can't believe how hard it is to find a Chippie that sells proper Sausages....Glad to see that us Sikhs are keeping things traditional......

A nice piece of skate wing is a particular favorite after a morning shift.

Re: Fish and Chips
And some will substitute cheaper fish and sell it as cod. Who would know?

Same as they do for herbs and spices where much cheaper ingredients are sold as the real thing and no-one has any clue.

Quality costs. Eating animal should not be cheap.
Do you go to High Tide in Barkingside? Bloody expensive too but the best I've ever had by a distance!
